Car Alarms: Jeep Car Alarm, alarmtek, dash area

Question
QUESTION: Hi,

I have a 94 Grand Cherokee and recently the car alarm has been going off randomly thoughout the day. So, I was wondering if there is a way I can disable/disconnect the alarm all together. I dont have much experience with cars, but if it is simple then I can probably do it.  Is there a fuse I can disconnect or something.  Your help would be much appreciate...my neighbors are getting pretty annoyed.

Thanks!

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

QUESTION: The car horn honks and the headlights are flashing. It just happens randomly.  The horn sounds strained as if there is a short or something.  it will also do it (sometimes) when i go to unlock the drivers door with my key.  my keyless device no longer works.  I hope this is enough info.  Thanks so much.

Answer
Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
purple/yellow |-| in the driver kick black plug.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
