Car Alarms: Hyundai Aceent 2000 immobiliser, hyundai accent, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: My daughters car keys were burnt in a fire, cleaned key up and will open door but not start engine, immobiliser engages, have all relevant numbers but Hyundai dealer says they need car to program key in,not just replace with new ones. We live 100km from dealer and are looking at having to tow car there, very expensive, is there anyway to overide immobiliser so we can drive it to dealers.

ANSWER: Ms. Jennifer.
The dealer is mistaken. The 2000
Hyundai Accent does NOT have an immobilizor in it,
from the factory, nor does it have an OEM security alarm.
It is a basic vehicle.

That being said, it may have an after market system installed.
If this is the case, there is a siren,
and it flashes the parking lights.

let's put it into valet/service mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

This solves the problem for now.

Then if you want to remove it, take it to a local
after market alarm dealer and have it done there.
Or get new remotes for it at a site
like www.autotechs.com,
www.remotesunlimited.com etc...

Try this remedy, and let me know if I was right.

Have a nice afternoon.

elsewhere when it's time for a new car,
and thanks a pile!)

QUESTION: no toggle switch, mentions immobilsor in manual, if you disconnect immobilsior can you override it that way. This is an Australian vehicle.

Answer
Ah, not in the US models of this car.

Ok, the only ways I know of at that point would
be to either install a bypass kit databus transponder
bypass (keyless) or, go to the Hyundai dealer
look up the VIN number and registration, and have
them program new keys to it (suggested).

I have nothing on the Accent here in the states
that suggests your vehicle has one since it's
a basic korean vehicle.

Most Hyubai higher end vehicle here now have
them, but still, not the Accent or Elantra.

Wish I could offer more detailed info,
but our notes don't cover your issue.
