QuestionQUESTION: I just got a 2002 Jeep Liberty and love it! However I hate the alarm. When you get into the car and start it the alarm sounds. Is there any way to turn this feature off? I can unlock the doors and jump in quickly to start the car but if I wait more that 30 seconds the alarm will sound. It drives me crazy! Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.
Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?
Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

AnswerNormally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:
The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
lt. green/orange |-|conn. 2, pin 9 @ the BCM.
The factory alarm disarm wire is
negative trigger thru a 473 ohm resistor.
MUST use relay. The BCM
(Body Control Module) is attached to
the left of the fusebox.
Connector 1 is a gray 26 pin plug,
and connector 2 is a gray 22 pin plug.
Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, add the specified resistor
and put it to a solid chassis ground.
This terminates the alarm functions entirely.
However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.
Take this info to your local
stereo/car alarm guy and have them
do this for you.
