Car Alarms: Mustang Alarm system, alarmtek, valet service

Question
QUESTION: Hi! Im having a problem with my 1999 Ford Mustang.. I'm not sure if the alarm was factory installed or not. I lost my remote with the lock and unlock buttons. For some reason I've never been able to start the car unless I first hit the unlock button on the remote, Now that I've lost the remote the alarm was going off like crazy. Got the alarm itself to stop going off, but I still cant start my car. Is there a way to turn the whole alarm system off?? A few people have told me about pushing a button, but I cant locate a button. Any Help would be VERY appreciated! Thank you!

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

QUESTION: I just called the factory and it is not a factory alarm, And it was flashing parking lights an LED in the dash area and the siren going off, but my husband uplugged the sound so that the alarm doesnt go off every time i open the door, but im still not able to start my car with out hitting the unlock on that remote that i lost, it will turn over just enough for the radio to come on but the car wont turn on.

Answer
Sure ok, let's put it into valet/service mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

This solves the problem for now.

Then if you want to remove it, take it to a local
after market alarm dealer and have it done there.

They may even be able to reset/reprog. the features on
the alarm you have, to allow you to use the system
more comfortably, but of course, your call.

Have a nice afternoon.
