Car Alarms: car alarm, toyota solaria, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: My Toyota solaria 1999 car alarm has been acting up and keeps going off for no reason. Also the drivers side door does not lock completely at times. With or without the remote. Can you help with a solution? Thanks

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

QUESTION: I was told it is a aftermarket item and it must have been installed by the dealer. We bought the car new. Thanks, Greg. P.S. I had the system disconnected

Answer
Then you may have a faulty system, bad connection or
failing remotes. Either way, my suggestion
is to take it in to the local stereo/car alarm
shop, and have them go over all conncetions, and
if possible, talk you into a re do, with new,
fresh set of remotes, and a decent explaination as to
what it does and does not do.

Makes for a better, more secure experience.

Good luck with it.
