Car Alarms: Diamante Car Alarm, alarmtek, dash area

Question
1999 Mitsu Diamante and the alarm goes off intermittinly when activated,sometimes months go by without it happening.
The keyless entry fob quit working so I took it off completely because I thought the fob was causing it somehow.I lock the doors by key and the alarm goes off whenever it wants;no rhyme,no reason. HELP !

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.
