Car Alarms: Toyota Corolla Car alarm, toyota corolla 2000, toyota corolla

Question
I got a new key made for my toyota corolla 2000 about a year ago, it didn't have a remote on it like my old key. Ever sense then i haven't had problems with my alarm but recently i unlocked my car door with my key as i do daily and my alarm went off.Im a 19 year old female who knows nothing about cars and i have no idea how to turn the alarm off so that i can drive my car. I was told putting my key in the ignition and turning it would start my car and stop the amarm but it didnt work.HELP!

Answer
Simply unlocking the door should have disarmed your alarm, as well as turning the key to the on position.  I wish I could offer more assistance but if it is a factory installed system the system should indeed disarm by unlocking.  If this does not work, pressing unlock on the door may help but I doubt it.  For something to try, disconnect the car battery and have it load tested.  Sometimes a battery that is weak will cause an alarm to act very erratic.
