Car Alarms: 99 suburban viper system.... gremlins!, valet mode, system resets

Have a 99 suburban w/viper 473v remote. It does a few things... the first is when ever it wants, the word security will flash when I try to start car.... I knew when I first saw this that the car would not start. I had to wait about 5mins and then it is like the system 'resets' and it will then start. It does this, of course, in the most inopportune times! Then... one day I had manually locked the car (without the alarm armed) and then tried to unlock via pushing the lock then unlock on my remote. Have done in the past and it worked this way... but for some reason the car did not like it and went into valet mode!! Then one day while in valet mode it did its gremlin thing of not starting.... I was fiddling with the remote (being impatient) and pushed the buttons in some sort of order and it released the valet mode and reset to alarm mode!!! WOW... thinking I fixed it from the 'gremlin' mode, I was very happy. NO CHANCE... it has since gone back to gremlin mode and wont start sometimes. But I also have it stuck in valet mode and I do not have a 'reset' button under the dash anywhere.... I really do not think I am missing it... I do not see a thing under there. I am hoping you know the 'secret' remote button thing I did before!! I have tried all kinds of sequences but to no avail.... UGH!!! So can you help with either problem??? Thanks.... Lisa
