Car Alarms: 93 ford explorer, rear quarter panel, hood latch

Question
Hi,
As I said it IS factory.  The headlights go off and the horn sounds and the alarm signal on the dash blinks and the car will not start.  I have found dampness in the area where the trigger is in the driverside back wheel well and dried it and the horn still goes but the car drives.  I have moved the hood latch as well to stop that from triggering but the horn still sounds at a rapid pace vs the normal alarm pace.  Hope this helps.  Thanks again for your help.

I think I have a short with the factory alarm.  I cannot start the vehicle, I have disconnected the alarm.  I am wondering if there is a way to bypass this system?
Thanks

Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
dark green/purple, Located in the drivers door
harness or the Anti-theft module located by
the keyless module in rear left rear quarter panel.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the factory alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.
However....

Just in case this might be aftermarket, and the installer
tapped the car's own horn, and relayed the headlights,
try this:

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.

Let me know which system was the culprit.
