Car Alarms: 1997 Ford Explorer + Viper 600 ESP Failsafe Starter Kill, ford exploer, installation forum

Question
I have a 1997 Ford Exploer with a Viper 600ESP alarm installed. Noticed in the last 2 years the vehicle will not start at certain times like after it has been parked. The starter will crank but it will not start like no fuel or spark. The vehicle will start perhaps like a day or two and then it will not start again and this is happening more regular. I did pull the fuse and the car has been running ok,,,, BUT could this be the starter kill relay??? I would like to use the alarm because of the power door lock function and just alarm. Does this relay kill the ignition/fuel on this car or is it starter?? Would like input on this before I decide remove or tamper with the system. I do have the install guide.

Thanks

Dave
