Car Alarms: 2002 Ford Escape, sirent, ford escape

Question
I am installing a remote start in my 02 Ford Escape The wiring diagram is telling me the horn wire is yellow with green stripe in the SRS wiring harness, There are 2 of these wires in there with 1 black wire. What is the safest way to test these wires? I have been told to stay away from this harness by all means I have had a few people tell me I can check for these with a multi meter safely and a few have said I can do this with a test light. Is either method safe to use?

Answer
Try the yellow/light green (should be directly tapped with your (-) horn honk output. If none available, invert the sirent (+) to (-).)
in the steering column (smallish)

Use a meter to test, or you can set off an airbag there.
Personally, with mutiplexing systems like in the Escape,
I'd opt to only use my aftermarket alarm's siren.
Unfortunately, there is a long history of popping airbags
in this truck.

Your call though of course.

Good luck.
