Car Alarms: REGARDING CAR ALARM SYSTEM FOR 2000 TOYOTA CELICA, car alarm system, toyota alarm

Question
I noticed you put TOYOTA COROLLA.. It's not a Toyota Corolla, it's a Toyota Celica.
Ok, the light is not solid.  Also, the remote lights flashes when i press the buttons on the transmitter, but it does not unlock the doors, it only flashes.  Do you know what's wrong with it?
Thanks!

It's not an aftermarket alarm system. & the light does not go on at all.  & what do you mean solid? It's red, and i think it's supposed to be lit up red, but it's not.

My alarm system is not working; however, when i press the buttons on the transmitter, the buttons flashed.  But, inside the car, where there's a red light that's supposed to flash on and off (located on the left below the sterling wheel) to indicate that there is a alarm system, is not flashing like it's supposed to.

Is the light lit solid?  Does the light not go on at all?  Is it a Toyota alarm or an after market system?

When I asked about the light being lit solid I was asking if it was on but not blinking.  If it is on and not blinking it is in valet (override) mode.

If your doors are locking and unlocking with the remote then the system is responding to the remote.  If it is not locking and unlocking the alarm is not responding and you may need a new remote...did it get wet?

I looked up your 2000 Corolla and the tech sheet on it says the factory alarm is only controllable via the remote, this means there is no way of interfacing with it via wiring in the vehicle nor is there a way to test using the switch on the door.

If your remotes are no longer controlling the door locks, I would suggest looking into a replacement remote control.  There are a couple of people on eBay that sell them and I found this site:

http://www.autotechs.com/items/item494.htm

It is a little pricey in my opinion, but they include instructions on how to program it, and include a lifetime warranty.

If the system is still locking and unlocking I would suggest posting this question to a forum like:

http://www.toyotanation.com/

As they will be better versed in factory systems, my specialty is after market systems.  And, as a last option you could always try the dealership but they tend to be very expensive.

Answer
Sorry, I had a brain slip there.  If you follow the link for the transmitter it lists the Celica (I did make sure that it was right when I looked it up, but mistyped it when responding).

If the doors do not lock or unlock I would think that the remote is probably bad.  The flashing light really is not an indicator of proper operation of the transmitter, it is only an indicator of a working battery.

There is no way I can know for sure if the transmitter is the actual cause, but in my experience this is where I believe your problem is.  To be absolutely sure, take the car to a Toyota dealer, it will probably cost you a little more but they have the knowledge and tools to do it right the first time.
