Car Alarms: Hyundai 2001 Elantra passive arming, hyundai elantra, fcc id

Question
I have a used Hyundai Elantra that has an automatic door lock that will lock the doors regardless of whether the keys are in the ignition or not.  I do not have the manual for the automobile (bought it used privately) and I would like to disarm the autolock.  How do I do that???

Answer
That will require the procedure
for your specific alarm. All are different.
The PASSIVE arming mode you are in, which
locks the doors 30 seconds after the dome light
goes out, uses either a dip switch setting
that can toggle between Passive arming & active,
or a valet button setup that can also program
the internal features, setting up your
"ACTIVE" arming, where you MUST hit the remote
button to lock/unlock the doors.

The Elantra does not have a factory alarm so
got to www.REMOTESUNLIMITED.com and try to
first identify the alarm you have using the FCC ID. #
on the back of your remote. then locating the
manufacturer, to possibly get the manual download,
and help you swith to active arming only.

Good hunting.
