Car Alarms: Ford escort 1992, valet mode, ford escort

Question
Hi, iv just replaced the car battery on my 1992 mk5 escort cabriolet. When i connect all the wires to the new batterey the remote alarm goes off. I cannot cancel it with my remote key as this has no effect (the key is working)
Any ideas??
Thanks

Answer
Try putting the alarm in valet mode, with most alarms to do this you would have to turn the ignition to the run position (not start) and flip the toggle switch.

You could also just remove the fuses supplying the brain of the system which would allow the vehicle to operate normally until you can have it looked at.  Take a look under the driver's side dash of your vehicle follow the factory ignition harness back to the brain of the alarm.  Somewhere between the factory harness and the brain should be inline fuse holders, removing the fuses should disable the alarm.

If you post the exact make and model of your alarm I will see what I can dig up for an owner's manual and forward it to you.
