I am looking to buy a keyless entry car alarm for a gift and I was wondering how does the brand Carbine rate? Also, what brand would you recommend? The car that the system will be installed in is a 2002 mercury cougar. Thank you

This really is a personal opinion question, so I will answer it as such.

My preference is DEI.  Viper/Python/Sidewinder/Avital/Clifford etc.  But they will not warranty a self install job.  I have done several Omega/Excalibur and Audiovox/Prestige pieces and they all work well too.  

If you buying it to put it in yourself I would consider purchasing from Alarmtek.  He warranties self install jobs and has a decent selection of units to chose from.
