Car Alarms: Alarm not working/car wont start, underdash area, autozone

Hi I have a 1998 LS Galant Mitsubishi.  I tried to start my car yesterday and it would not start.  Autozone said it was the battery so I got a new battery.  I think it might be the alarm because we took the old battery out but my radio still goes on and it shouldn't.  Also, when I test my alarm by rolling down the window and unlocking it afterward the lights go on and off but the alarm does not sound.  Is it my alarm system or something else?

Sounds as if it is working, but the siren wire
is disconnected.

Try to locate the siren under the hood and
check the wire going to it. If connected, then
you may need to pull the underdash area panel,
locate the alarm and trouble shoot.

Check that out, and let me know
what you found.
