Chrysler Repair: rear freeze plug? trans removal: 3.0L V-6, expansion plugs, freeze plug

Is there a freeze plug between bell housing and block on 1994 3.0 caravan? If so what is the easiest way to get to it? do I have to remove trans completely?

I looked at the 3.0L engine parts manual for '88 (which is the only one I have, unfortunately) and it appears there are a couple of expansion plugs on the rear surface of the block (probably one for each bank of cylinders). If so, that would appear to require removal of the transmission for replacement. You might want to check with an engine shop if there is one in your area to see if they can verify.
