Questioni have a your valet keyless remote/lock start, and when i start my 1997 1/2 ton pickup with the key the doors automaticaly lock.......so if you start the truck w/door open and jump out for something and forget to unlock doors your locked out....how do i disable the auto lock feature......
AnswerThe ignition controlled door lock feature is programmable on most DEI products (if not all). The process to change the option is fairly simple, but without knowing the exact model number of the system I can not say for certain which option number it is in the menu. If you get the exact model number of your system and post it, as well as your email I will send along a digital copy of the owner's manual for your system (trusting DEI still has it listed).
For something to try, the Valet 561R and Avital4100 both used options 13 and 14 for ignition controlled lock and unlock on their older models. To turn the feature off using these options you:
Turn the ignition key to run then off
Press the programming button 14 times holding it in on the 14th press. (this is for option 13 ignition controlled lock)
Press button two on the transmitter, this will cause the led to turn off showing the feature is off.
Follow the same procedure for ignition controlled unlock but press the button 15 times, holding it in on the 15th press.
