Car Alarms: 97 Avalon - Executive Keyless Entry and Security, fcc id, toyota avalon

Question
Hi,
I have a 97 Toyota Avalon. It does not have a factory keyless entry unit. However, there is a sticker on the driver side window which says "Executive Keyless Entry and Security" and there is a small LED installed to the left of the steering wheel (it does not ever blink though).
I enquired at a local store here and he said that they will charge $25 to find out which system is installed and after that also he won't be able to provide me a remote for Executive.
Is there a way I can find out exactly what system is installed in my car and get a remote for the same from somewhere?

Thanks,
Manuj

Answer
There are only 2 ways to locate it.
one, if you have the remote (s), go to
go to www.REMOTESUNLIMITED.com and try to
identify the system there. They specialize in
replacing remotes, and can identify what
you have by the FCC ID. on the back.
The other is, if no remote is available,
then the brain under the dash area may have
the FCC ID on it. You will need to get to
it, and locate the numbers.

Executive was made by Audiovox at one time
I believe, but is no longer produced.
However,
The easiest and best way however is to replace
the unit with a new system entirely.

Not expensive, but when you start from scratch,
you will get a better, warrantied unit,
2 fresh remotes, and complete knowledge of what
the sytem can and can not do.

Makes for a better, more secure experience.
Your call though.

Good luck with the hunt.
