Car Alarms: Car Alarm program, valet mode, karr alarm

Question
I have a Karr alarm bought with my Dodge truck in 97. I replaced the battery and all is working fine but I seem to have lost the chirp/horn when I arm the truck. I want to reprogram the chirp in when it is armed. Can you help? Thanks

Answer
There should be an LED mounted in plain sight on the vehicle.  Check to see if that light is lit solid, if it is your system is in Valet mode.  To take it out of valet mode, you must find the valet switch, typically a small metal toggle switch mounted out of view.  Turn your ignition key to the on position, and flip this switch to take the system out of valet mode.  I am not familiar with the Karr brand, but there are some systems that can be put into valet mode via the remote by pressing a sequence of buttons quickly (ie lock, unlock, lock).  If you have the owner's manual for the system it will list how to take the system in and out of valet mode.

Karr has a website with an email questions link, if you cannot figure out how to operate the valet mode, try dropping them a line.  There website is http://www.karrsecurity.com/auto.htm

Hope this helps.
