Car Alarms: Chevy S10 Alarm Problems, chevy s10, avital alarm

Question
I got my friend to install a CD player into my new Chevy S10 and once we were finished we tried to turn on the truck but it wouldn't.  We figured we drained the battery because the doors were left open for a while.  I recharged the battery but my lock/unlock and alarm button on my keychain isn't doing anything.  The alarm goes off when I open the door but stops once it is closed again and the truck still won't start.  I left the door closed and the alarm would go off on its own periodically so I had to leave the door open so it would stop.  I've looked for the valet switch but haven't been able to find it.  I have no idea what to do now to disarm or reset the alarm or make my truck start!  Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!  And if it matters it is an Avital alarm system and I bought the truck used and the alarm was installed by the previous owner.  Thank you for your help!

Answer
If the s10 is 98 or above, you are probably dealing
with a passlock problem, as well as an alarm problem.
The Avital lost it's transmitter programing when it
lost original power. Unless you have the re programing
info for the remotes, you are sadly SOL.

Best idea is to pull the Avital completely and start
over. There are too many veriables as to how it was installed and what year the vehicle you have etc...
that the only way I would procede is to remove what was
installed before, and do it all over again with upgraded
and updated equipment. I have some great stuff on sale
that works very well in Chevys at www.USCARALARMS.com
and at. www.pagingalarms.com and of course www.startbyremote.com

In any case, get rid of the Avital if posible, once done,
you should be able to get it started. If not, call
the local GM shop to have them reset the passlock
system so you can start it again.

Good luck.
