Car Alarms: remote start/entry, avital remote start, keyless entry

Question
I recently purchased a 1997 Tahoe, but it didn't have the remote. It has a Avital remote start. Can I get a remote that will do both the remote access and remote start? If so what do need to info do I need and can most alarm shops get them?

Answer
The trouble here is the usefullness of the current
system installed. If no remote is available, it would
cost you upwards of 65. just to replace the transmitter,
if you can locate the correct one, then you will need to
program it to the system you have, and learn how
it operates and how to control it, or to repair it
since you do not know the system or why it's not
operable now.

If you want my best suggestion, since an alarm system
keyless entry is installed now, the best way to
approach this is with new equipment, you understand
and has a warranty. I can certainly help you with
a good selection of systems to chose from, but if
not interested, try going to www.directed.com  ( the owners
of Avital now,) and try to get the replacement remote and assistance. You may find that exceedingly difficult
however since the replacements are hard to come by now.

Let me know if I can help you with a better alternative.

Good luck either way eith it.
