Question
I was told that my 1999 Grand Am has a passive alarm system. It shuts done the fuel pump so it will not start..And if this happens too leave key in the ignition on the start postion and it will reset  itself after 10/15 mins.I have taken it to my local mech.he will not get into it.Have you ever heard of this id there a quick fix ie  fuse wire to disconnect.I dont really have the $$ to spend at Pontiac dealer any all help would be great                          Thank You

Answer
This car has the GM PASSLOCK II security system,
and unfortunately, regardless, it's not going
to be a cheap fix.

The only fairly cheap way is to get a remote
start bypass module designed for the GM, and
instead of temporarilly grounding the imput
for momentary bypass of the passive system,
you would go to a solid chassiss ground,
thus permanantly disabling the
GM PASSLOCK-PASSKEY II system alltogether.

But this will leave the car vulnerable. You
call really, but it would run about 68.00 for
that piece. I have a good idea what they will
tell you at Pontiac. You WILL not like it,
So this may be the only other viable way.

Have a look at what this is going to involve at
www.PASSLOCKBYPASS.com

Good luck.

(The bypass you see there for 25.00
depends on a MOMENTARY ground pulse to
operate. You can not make it work for this one.
Sorry)
