Car Alarms: auto alarm, alarmtek, decibles

Question
When i replaced the auto battery on my vehicle, the alarm stopped working.
But you can see the Led light in the dark flashing
5 consecutive times with a pause, alternating in that sequence. You can also here the alarm going off, if you get near it, in a very very low sound.

My question is can I fix this? in the users manual that I had (I don't have it anymore) it showed some sequence of button pressing on the remote that you would do to I guess, either to activate or triger the alarm and set it up etc.

The alarm is a Sidewinder 5000 I believe, from 1996. No repairs on it.

Thanks
Henry

Answer
A couple of thing here I can see are a problem.
First you don't have the users guide.
copy cut n paster the following link to get
a copy for your records. In it you will find
the procedure needed to reset it. Also,
the address for DEI for your future purposes:

www.DIRECTED.com
& for the guide:
http://www.directed.com/guides/manuals/og/sidewinder/432S.pdf

Second, one thing that does bother me about
your situation is the low tone on the siren.
It sounds as if the ground is not complete.
Please check this if resetting it does not
improve the decibles the siren is producing.

Good luck with it, and have a nice afternoon.
