Im having some issues installing a 771xv in my 95 ford f350. I got the system all wired up. When I powered it up the alarm immedialty triggered. I could then only silence the alarm by pushing the lock/arm button. The other buttons do nothing. This silenced the alarm but the system remained armed. I unplugged the power to the system and plugged it back in and it did the same thing. I waiting a day to try at it again. This time when I powered it up I could not turn it off with the remote. The remote did confirm that the alarm had been triggered though. I check all my other connects for voltage drops with my multimeter and there were none. My guess now is that something is defective. The place where I bought this is willing to replace the defective part, but which one? Any help here will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot,
Steve

Sounds like the brain got zapped and alot of unusual
activity is happening here. Possibly due to either
attatching a wire and doing it without the benefit
of a relay, or an improper connection that was made
on an incorrect polarity feed, that fed back to
the brain.

In any event, you need to send the remote and the
brain box back for replacement and start again.

Keep in mind that trucks for that year
had types of locking systems,
(Negative trigger on the keyless-entry
versions and 5-wire on all the rest)
and a positive door trigger system as well.
If you did not use relays for the locks,
you could have damaged your alarm brain, affecting
all other systems on the motherboard when it got zapped.

Smell the brain for fresh electric smoke/odor.
It happens alot to these systems due to bad
writing and warnings in the installation materials.

Viper's tech support should help on this though.
It's really the job of the seller to assit you on
this as far as tech support goes.

My support is limited mostly to my own clientel.
I can only provide some general ideas here because
it's not something I do often. I don't sell DEI
products on the whole. Not a fan.

I just don't have alot of nice things to say
about they're equipment or support system.
(see reviews at ALARMDOMAIN.com)

Anyway, if your seller will make the exchange,
go fo it. It would be a rare thing indeed if
that level of service to a customer is provided
by a qualified Viper/DEI dealer.

Good luck with it.

Alarmtek,
Thank you for the reply. Ive contacted the seller, an ebay dealer, and a new brain is on its way. I didnt ask him for a new remote. I can use the orginal one, right? I viewed you website and saw that you offer tech support. How would you feel about giving me a write up for installing this system. I could give you a copy of the viper wiring diagram. This way I wont have to worry about damaging the new brain. Although im fairly confident I didnt wire anything wrong. This system forces you to put a relay on the locks, and the door trigger was hooked up right. My door pins have two wires, one shows negative when open and one shows positive when opened. I tapped into the negative. Anyway, let me know what you think and we will work something out.

Thank you again, you've been very helpful

I don't do that level of service for free Steve, sorry.
I do have a virtual installer system that I charge 20.00 and hour (minimum 2 hours), to make it equitable for
me to provide my time and expertise to non equipment
buying visitors. If interested in buying a block of
my time devoted to your installation, send an email
to me at INSTALLSUPPORT@AOL.COM with the make/model & year
of your vehicle, the make and model of the system involved, and your request for service.

I will send back a payment link for you to pay for the service, and we'll get you squared away, wire by wire,
online with instant messenger, or phone service, whichever
works for you.

Sorry about that, but as you can imagine, this request
comes up alot from the customers of online ebay liquidators
as they just sell products, but provide no technical support whatsoever. I just don't do that for free any longer as it is time consuming, and the fact is that
it is not my job to provide my competitors clientel
with the support that is they're responsibility
to offer to they're equipment buying customers.

Have a good day, and good luck with it
if you choose not to get my assistance.

Alarmtek,
Im sorry for the misunderstanding. I wasnt asking for you to help me for free. I have every intention in paying your fee. When the time comes, probably midweek, hopefully we can hook up and you and I can get this thing installed(without zapping it). Do you have to know in adavance when I will want your support? If so how much time in advance do you need?
By the way, this online tech support idea is brillant. Thanks for providing this service.

Answer
Most appreciated, thank you.
And also thanks again for understanding.
Some would get all hot n bothered over my expaination
but you seem to "get it". Excellent.
We'll get this all put away by week's end.

Write to me the day before you plan to go
to work on it, and we'll sort out the details then.

Have a good weekend!
