Car Alarms: Car only starts sometimes - I think its an Alarm problem, doorlocks, flip switch

Question
I have a '93 camry with an aftermarket alarm installed. I don't know much about the alarm itself. The problem is that nine times out of ten, the car starts perfectly. The battery is relatively new, and has no problems that I know of. But every now and then, when I turn the key, there is no sound, and the engine does not try to start. What I have been doing is every time this happens, I press the button on the remote and try to start it. I have to repeat this process many times (usually about 30-40 times before the car starts. Usually around the 15-20 attempts mark, I'll hear the starter begin to turn, but it quickly stops. It normally takes me about 15 minutes of alternating between turning the key and pressing the button on the remote before the car starts. Obviously, this is becoming quite a pain, and I'm worried that some day it wont start at all. Oh, also, there is a switch under the dashboard that control the alarm. I think the button may only control the doorlocks when the switch is in the 'off' position, and the doorlocks as well as the alarm when the switch is in the 'on' position, but I'm not positive about that.

Thanks for the help,
Johann

Answer
Ok, It sounds like the system is in
armed mode, has gone off when you were away,
and you need to reset it. Try this.
Ignition Key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
The dashboard LED will come on solid.

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.

Let me know what happens.
