Auto Racing: 4 cylinder dirt track, dirt cars, dirt track

Question
How about a crash course in 4 cylinder set up for dirt track been raceing 4 cylinder 2 seasons now fourth in points at local track want more!

Answer
OK  First you need to get the book:  "How to Make Your Car Handle" by Fred Puhn- - you can get it from nearly any bookstore, some even have it in stock.  Any of them can order it for you . It's about $16.00 and worth every penny.

Now the disclaimer, I was active in roadracing for ten YEARS before I won my first race, and it was another year before I finished in the points. Then the next year I won the regional championship.  Since then I've had a run of 5 years in the points with two championships included.

My point is that with only 2 years behind you you're doing alright , and if you were forth, your set-up is probably alright- - I hope so cuz I've never worked with dirt cars.

I'll tell you this though, many times the biggest secret to finishing in season points is to SHOW UP.  So many people run out of money, or patience, or parts, or simply stay home for a weekend or two, that just being there and racing will gain you a spot or two. Perseverance will gain more. Eventually you'll make it to the top -

I really wish I could offer more- - -but that book will give you a start in the handling department.

Good Luck
