Car Alarms: auto starter for 04 camry, lexus toyota, auto starter

do i need to provide a spare key my local car alarm installer, so that he could install a remote starter on my car ...I called the dealer and they said that the key does have a chip...please let me know .....

Unfortunately, for the 04',
he is correct.

You will need to get a 3rd key made
PRIOR to surrendering that key, so
you will still have 2 remotes to use.

There is only one keyless transmod bypass
for the 04 Lexus / Toyota that I know of,
and runs 65.00. If the key is available
and cheaper then this, it's going to be up to
you on what to do. But realisticly, and to
answer your question honestly, your local
installer was right. Either way you go,
it will run you more (up to 100. above the labor fee)
to get this done correctly.
