Car Alarms: Viper alarm help, jeep grand cherokee, viper alarm system

Question
My daughter recently purchased a used 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has what I'm told is a Viper alarm system.  I was told this based on the remote style with 4 buttons I-II-III-IV. There was no alarm info with the vehicle when purchased. We just installed an aftermarket head unit in place of the factory radio. We pulled the battery ground off during the head unit install and ever since re-connecting the battery the door locks will lock on their own and if the doors are opened with the key or by reaching in the open window and moving the lock the alarm goes off. How can I get this to stop self-locking or disable the alarm system if that is not possible?

Thanks!

Answer
Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area in most cases,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.
(Keep in mind that you will never completely
understand the unit, so I strongly advise
you to replace it with one that your son
does understand completely. Makes for
a better security experience.

That should do it.

Let me know what happens.
