Car Stereos: 1990 Accord radio static, alligator clips, karaoke system

Question
I bought an old 1990 Honda accord and have static when both the radio and tape deck are used.  The static is in all speakers.  My first thought is a crossed wire somewhere.  My question is this:  Is the a quick way to narrow down if its behind the unit itself or coming from one of the speaker wires without having to tear it all apart?  The radio is original factory.  not sure about the speakers though they sound old enough to be.
I'd appreciate any insight you could give me.

Answer
Hi Eric,

I would find something else I can use like an old stereo or an old karaoke system or something and connect it to each speaker's lead using alligator clips in the factory harness to see if there was still static.  If there was, then I'd get the speakers out one by one, and test right at the speaker again.  If the static goes away at the speaker, then you can tell exactly what the issue is.

If the static goes away at the harness, it's your deck.
If the static goes away at the speaker, it's the wiring.
If the static doesn't go away, you need new speakers.

Good luck,
Justin
