Car Alarms: Auto security system, auto security system, override switch

Question
I have a 2002 Lincoln Continental with a factory installed security system. The horn honks for no reason and the local police told me that, because of complaints, they would cite me for disturbing the peace if the horn keeps honking. I don't have a garage so I do not lock the car at night in order to avoid the citation. The local dealer said all they could do was to unhook the horn, but I need it when driving. I wonder if an override switch would be a cure, If so, how is it installed? I am 78 and know nothing about wiring. Your help will be appreciated.

Answer
The trouble here Bill is the factory system has no
oveide switch to speak of. In the drivers door, is the
factory security module. There is a
dark green/purple wire on this module, that once
grounded, would disable the factory system.

I would take it to a technician locally, and have him
permanantly ground this wire to the body of
the car. This way, the factory security will be
completly circumvented, and you will not have
these issues any longer.

You might want to aquire an aftermarket alarm then,
so that you are protected from theft again.

I hope this helps.
