Car Alarms: Car Alarm Goes Off Randomly, shock sensor, acura tl

Question
2000 Acura TL
I have a factory installed car alarm which seems to go off during the rain...a few times when it was not raining....I am not sure if the wind, rain, or a bad connection.

This issue reared its head in the last two months.
I had a passenger side impact (low speed by a Range Rover (big mass) ). Could the accident have jarred any connections loose or be related to my current problem?

What would cause a car alarm to go off on its own?

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Yeah, but here's the thing. A "FACTORY" alarm would not
be sensitive to vibration or motion. My guess
is that it's an aftermarket system installed at the dealership,
and the installed sensor is set way to high.

If you could get up under your dash to inspect this,
I am certain you could do this setting change and
save big $$$. But if unable, try taking
the car to the local Circuit city (don't let
them sell you anything) and have them turn it
down. But in either event, the shock sensor
can be deleted from the mix comfortably, by
simply unplugging it from the brain. (under the dash)
Then the doors/trunk opening, would be the only
triggers that set off the alarm in ALL cases.

But again, this is if it's aftermarket.
Do you see an LED in the dash that looks a bit
(NOT FACTORY)? or, under the dash area, a button
that looks like that too? This would determine
if it's OEM or aftermarket.

Finally check under
the hood for a siren (6 tone maybe?).
That would be a dead givaway too.

Let me know what you find.
