Car Alarms: python car alarm, python car alarm, body control module

Question
Hi,
I recentley had a problem with the rear electric windows not working on our'96 4runner,I searched at first for a problem in the door controler area, after not getting anywhere I took the door panel off the offending rear/side door (neither rear/side would work)and found a loose wire, ha, problem solved? nope, I reconnected the wire that went to the motor and was tied into the alarm/auto roll-up system I assume.I'm thinking maybe the wire touched the metal track and shorted out the alarm somewhere, but I can't find anything amiss as of yet. When I by-passed the wires of the alarm and put the Toyota wires back togeather for the motor I was able to get the offending window to roll back up, but I don't want to leave it that way, I would just as soon have it the way it was. Any direction on a place to look next would be super! Thanks Much,   Jeff

Answer
YEAH THAT WOULD BE NICE IF I COULD TELL
YOU IT'S AN EASY FIX, BUT WITHOUT KNOWING
THE AFTERMARKET SYSTEM OR, THE WINDOW MODULE
ITSELF, I WOULD BE GUESSING. THAT'S BAD.

NOPE, I WOULD
REMOVE THE WINDOW MODULE WIRING COMPLETELY,
AND OPT TO JUST SECURITY/KEYLESS. THE MORE YOU PLAY
WITH THE WIRES GOING TO THE BODY CONTROL MODULE,
THE LIKELYHOOD OF A CASCADING PROBLEM.

IT SEEMS LIKELY THAT THE WIRE WAS PULLED FOR
A REASON, BUT AGAIN, I CAN'T INSPECT IT FIRST
HAND TO FIND THE CULPRIT. THAT JUST GOES BACK
TO REMOVE THE WINDOW MOD FOR ANOTHER ONE
WITH INSTRUCTIONS, OR REMOVE FROM ALARM/KEYLESS
MIX ALL TOGETHER AND SAVE ON THE INTEGRITY OF THE
TOYOTAS BODY CONTROL MODULE.

WINDOW MODULES JUST
REALLY HAVE NOT BEEN PERFECTED IN MY OPINION,
SO THAT'S MY TAKE ON IT. I DON'T EVEN SELL THEM
ON MY SITES OR, IN MY STORE.

GOOD LUCK WITH IT.
