Car Stereos: iec auloc, sony explode amp, rca cables

Question
I have a 1000 watt 2/1 sony explode amp with two 4 ohm svc kenwoods. For some reason when i plug in both rca cables to my input on my amp it goes into protect mode but it will play just fine with one rca jack plugged in. Also, i can get it to play with two rca jacks but as soon as i disrupt the power some how, rather it would be turn the ignition off and on or turning the stock radio off and on it goes straight to protect mode after that. I have it all hooked up in a 05 nissan altima with bose audio. Could the bose stock HU be causing the problem? I was also recommended a IEC AULOC converter. But im not sure how to install it. i already tapped in my rear right speaker with it but do i gotta ground the LOC on some bare metal?

Answer
Hi Kelly,

If it's the same cable that keeps putting it into protect mode, look into replacing the cable first.

If it's different cables on the same plug that keeps doing it, you may have a bad amp.

RCA outputs are pretty standard and shouldn't be a concern when running them to your amp.

How are you getting the sound to the amp now?  Is there a LOC in place already, or are you using an aftermarket harness to get RCAs from the factory deck?

A LOC can be grounded to any bare metal chassis part.
