Car Stereos: 4 channel line output converter, chevy malibu, line output converter

Question
Hi, I just bought a new 2012 Chevy Malibu and am looking to install an aftermarket amp and four speakers.  How do I install the line output converter?  Do I need to cut the factory wires?  I replaced a unit in an older chevy but with a different head unit it was easier.  Where do I hook up the speaker wires coming off of the amplifier?  I'm trying to do this the easiest way possible while maintaining the manufacturer warranty.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Mike,

You don't have to cut the wires; just tap them.  Something like a vampire clip will work well for doing what you want, and provide the least amount of issues removing/making it look like it wasn't there.

As for where to hook up the wires, I'd suggest running fresh wire to the new speakers; it's more work, but you get to leave the factory system intact, and the new wires you install will inevitably be of better quality than the wires that're there now.
