Car Stereos: 1996 Toyota Avalon, toyota avalon, disc factory

My 1996 Toyota Avalon has a 3-disc factory stereo, but I had to get a new disc cartage. It took the first CD and that CD played, but it will not go to the next CD.  I get an E01 error message.  I cannot get the CD back out.  I can press the reset button and it will play the same CD and then get the error message again.  What is wrong?

Sounds like the CD unit has failed.

First, remove the radio fuse, and wait 5 minutes.

Put it back, and see if it comes back.  If it does, I'd still suggest replacing it because who knows when it'll try and eat another CD.  Either that, or start using burned discs you don't care about. :)

If it doesn't, you may have to tear it open if the CD that's in it matters to you.

Either way, you're looking at replacement.  E01 is a general error code they throw when the disc switching mechanism fails.
