Car Stereos: Running a power wire to amp, rubber grommet, chevy silverado

Question
I have a 1997 chevy silverado I want to know the best way to run the power wire from the battery to the amp in the back of the cab through the fire wall or what

Answer
Hi Matt,

Yes, always use the firewall.

I've yet in my entire life to meet a single car that didn't have a spare hole in its firewall somewhere for an option the car didn't have or some space near a loom or something.  Run your wire THROUGH the rubber grommet in the firewall to protect it from chaffing and ultimately grounding out the wire and blowing your fuse.

Then you have the option of running it under the car's carpet, under the centre console, or under the side door trim.
