Car Stereos: speakers cutting off, jeep wrangler, butt connectors

just recently I purchased a 1997 jeep wrangler. the stereo would light up but no sound, so i replaced the stereo with an after market one. still no sound. I ran a new wire to the speakers and got the speakers to work, but when I restarted the car the speakers didn't work until I messed with the red wire. it ran until I turned of the car, but no sound when i restarted it?

Hi Randy,

Your message would suggest to me that your wiring is not as secure as it should be.

I always recommend solder and heat shrink to make a good, permanent connection between wiring.

If that doesn't work, crimped butt connectors, but nothing less.  If you've just twisted/taped, it isn't going to hold.
