Car Stereos: Car radio installation, alpine amplifier, power supply capacitors

Question
Hello;
       I'm having trouble with determining what wiring harness I need for a 2000 Buick lesabre I don't have onstar but I know I have the lock n dock system I also wanted to wire an amplifier to the aftermarket unit. Does anybody know if I can use the gmrc -04 but I need the harness to have a remote wire so that I can send the signal   to the amplifier. I wanted to keep the factory chimes if possible so please let me know what wiring harness could make it possible.  Also  I'm planing on running 2 12" cvr kickers rated at 400rms each with a alpine pdx m12 rated at 1200 watt rms i needed to know if I needed to run a power capacitor and if you could recommend a brand. Again thank you for ur patience and advice.

Answer
Hi Pedro,

The GMRC-04 is the right harness for your vehicle, if you don't have Onstar and want to keep the warning chimes working.  The adapter module does not need to have an output for the amplifier remote; you can connect this directly to the remote output on your new head unit.

I don't usually recommend power supply capacitors with subwoofer systems.  For normal use, I think your vehicle's stock electrical system should be able to handle the amplifier's demands.  The Alpine amplifier is capable of producing much more power than the subs are rated for, so you'll want to use caution when setting up and using the system.

Hope this helps!
