Nissan: nock nock, rod bearings, slick50

Question
Ok about 4 weeks i got a 1995 240sx with the Ka24de motor in it,ok it had a very soft retell, but thought nothing of it,cuz the car is older,so the motor got a little louder.so i put some rezal in it witch is like slick50,that did nothing,so i took her up to the AAMCO the guy up there told me the motor was gone the the bottom end was knocking, well i would have nothing of it so i took the valve cover off and saw the timing Chan garde was broke and ridding on the timing Chan,so naturally i thought this was the problem,so i but her back together and still a hollow retell,so i took the valve cover back off and saw that the timing Chan was duped between the two cam gears.so what do you think is it the rod bearings or the timing Chan tench.??????? help me if you can, and thank you very much for doing this free serves, very Nobel

Answer
Chain is a big problem in that motor. Several recalls on it. You have to replace the chain, gears, tensioner and guides at the same time. You may as well remove the oil pan and check the rod bearings. Pull the rod caps off one at a time and put each one back together before you remove the next one. Its not that hard to do. And torque the caps when you put them back on.
