Car Stereos: Pioneer radio, pioneer radio, stock radio

Question
Hi Brian,
I have a pioneer radio/CD player that i replaced for the stock radio in my car. i need to take the radio out because a wire came umplugged for an amplifier i have.  i know that i have to insert the 2 metal pieces into the side so it will come out but i do not have the metal pieces required to do this.  do you know of any other options that i might have to get the unit out?

Answer
Hi Cory,

You can try to make something similar to the factory radio removal tools; they're simply strips of sheet metal, about three inches long and 1/4" wide.

Otherwise, depending on the vehicle, you may be able to take the dash apart and remove the entire kit and radio assembly (assuming a mounting kit was used).  I can't say how difficult this might be without knowing the year and model of your vehicle.

Car audio installation shops  usually have Pioneer removal tools on hand, and might be willing to let you buy or borrow a set if you ask nicely.

Hope this helps!

Brian
