Car Stereos: Navagation radio Bezel intergrade?, double din head unit, chrysler dealer

Question
I have a 2005 dodge Dakota with a woodgrain factory radio bezel. The bezel has radio knob cutouts, my problem is finding one that does not have those. I'm upgrading my stereo to a double din JVC  ( 720 )unit and am looking for a bezel that will accommodate the upgrade in the woodgrain look without the cutouts for a more clean cut appearance.

Answer
Hi Rick,

I'd check with a local Chrysler dealer's parts department.  If the 2005 Dakota was available with a factory navigation option, then you might be able to buy a factory dash bezel designed for the nagivation-equipped head units.  This is typically a larger, rectangular cutout without the little half-circles on the side.  If you can find this type of factory bezel, then you should be able to use a Metra 99-6510 dash kit to install the double-DIN head unit.  Otherwise, your only option is to try modifying the existing dash panel--not an easy task, especially with a woodgrain panel.

Hope this helps!
