Car Stereos: dash disassembly, alpine head unit, gmc canyon

Question
QUESTION: I think the USB cable on my Alpine head unit is bad. Message reads "no ipod connection", "appliance does not support iphone device". It was working for 1 1/2 yrs, no not so much. I just need help in getting the dash apart.
Thanks

ANSWER: Hi,

I can answer your question about dash disassembly, but first I'll need to know the year, make and model of your vehicle.  Can you please submit a follow-up question with this information?

Thanks

Brian

QUESTION: That would help, sorry. It is a 2007 GMC Canyon base model pickup.

Answer
Hi Dallas,

The dash disassembly in your truck is actually quite simple: just pull off the dash panel that surrounds your radio and climate controls.  There are no hidden screws or other obstacles; the entire panel is just held in place with pressure clips.  Pull off the panel, and you'll find three screws holding the factory radio (or, in your case, the new radio's mounting kit) in place.

Hope this helps!
