Car Stereos: PAC SOEM-T, radio harness, wire colors

Question
Hello, I have bought a sub and an amp to put in my 08 Pontiac G5, I am putting a PAC SOEM-T with it because I have a stock radio.  I am not fully sure on how to install it. I was wondering if you could walk me through this process.  I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,
Brandon

Answer
Hi Brandon,

Sorry it's taken so long to answer your question.

The SOEM-T requires connections to the factory speaker wires, as well as power and ground connections to activate the built-in amplifier activation circuit.  The best place to find all these connections is the factory radio plug.

The white, white/black, gray, and gray/black wires from the SOEM-T should be connected to the factory speaker wires.  You don't have to cut the factory wires; just strip off some insulation, connect the wire from the SOEM-T, and insulate the connection with high quality electrical tape.  You can also find connectors called T-taps which would make the connections easier.

The black wires from the SOEM-T should not be used in your application.

The SOEM-T's yellow wire should be connected to the constant power wire in the radio harness, and the black/blue wire should be connected to the factory ground wire.  The blue wire will be extended to the remote terminal of your after-market amplifier.

The constant power wire in the radio harness should be red/white, and the ground wire should be black/white.  The speaker wire colors will vary depending on whether your vehicle is equipped with the optional Pioneer factory audio system.  If you don't have the Pioneer package, then the rear speaker wires should be brown (+) and yellow (-) for the left speaker, and dark blue (+) and light blue (-) for the right speaker.

Hope this helps!
