Question
i have a bazooka amp in my car with 1000 watt peak, 2 ohm at 800 watts and 4 ohms at 550 watts.. im looking for a good sub that can handle that and be LOUD even if i need more than one sub that wouldnt be a problem.. and im trying to fit all this in my trunk

Answer
Hi Andrew,

I try to avoid making subwoofer brand recommendations; there are a lot of different subs out there that would match up well with your amplifier, and I certainly haven't had the chance to try all of them, or even a large fraction of them.

In your case, I'd probably be looking for a pair of 12" subs, rated at 400-500 watts RMS each, with a dual 2-ohm voice coil design.  When you have two 2-ohm DVC subs, you can combine them for a mono 2-ohm load, which allows you to get the best from your amplifier.

I'd suggest looking for a sub that's available in a subwoofer/enclosure combination.  The subwoofer box makes a big difference in the sub's output, so when you have a box that's designed specifically for the sub, it helps a lot.  It also allows you to get the box dimensions before you purchase, so you can make sure it will fit in the space you have available.

An example is Kicker's DCVR122 system.  This is a pair of Kicker CompVR subwoofers, rated at 400 watts RMS each, with a factory-matched ported enclosure.  Something like this would be a good match with your amplifier; but there are many other excellent subwoofers that would work just as well.

Hope this helps!

Brian
