Question
QUESTION: hello Scott,
i have an '04 silverado reg. cab and i the issue that i am having is, both driver and passenger speakers are not working but my passenger side door speaker will come on periodically. drivers side speaker will ding if i leave my head lights on but it's a soft ding and it's like 1 out of 100 times, but doesn't play music. the passenger side speaker will come on if i have my a/c on for 15 mins  then cuts out again. both of the speakers at head level behind the seats work just fine. any idea of what is going on?

ANSWER: Isaac, Your radio has a short in it, and it will need to be repaired.  The connector that plugs into the radio gets loose and the soldering comes loose inside the radio.  Hope this helps, Scott

QUESTION: so if i pull my radio out, isn't that going to kill the radio?

Answer
No, it will not kill it.  It will need to be reprogrammed at the dealer after the repair has been made and the radio reinstalled.  This is a very common problem with 2000-2006 GM SUVs.  You may try and call your local GM dealer and see if there is some sort of recall on the radio.  I guarantee they have seen the problem alot.  They may even know the cheapest way to get it fixed.  Good Luck, Scott
