Car Stereos: audio, radio code, honda dealer

Question
Need to know what to do to get code for 1999 Honda Accord audio system when don't have card that has info about the code or serial # of audio system. Is there a way to find out what the code is? Went to Honda dealer and they said they would have to remove the audio system to find the serial # in order to get the code. Is there any other way to do this?

Answer
There's a couple things you can do for this. I know quite a few who have had this problem.

#1 Look inside your glove box. There should be a white sticker on the top of it that has the radio code. When you turn the car on, just press the code exactly as it's shown and it should come right on.

#2 Oh no! The stickers gone! In this case, you will need to get the serial number and call Honda. If you are savvy with your dash, you can remove the radio and it will be written on the chassis. Or you can try something that's worked in the past.. Hold down the 1 and 6 buttons, turn the radio on, and the serial number should be on the display.

Once you get the serial number, call 800-999-1009 for Honda, give them the serial number, and they should give you the code for your specific theft-protection.

#3 If all else fails, you will be forced to take it to the dealer. They will take a long time and probably charge you for this service, but it will get done. Even if it's just looking at the sticker!

Best of luck to you. Let me know how it turns out! =]
