Car Stereos: Kicker 900.2 SX Amp, dual voice coils, kicker solobarics

Question
I have a kicker 900.2 SX car amplifier. What are the best sub woofers I should buy to match the amp, I would like to stay with kicker solobarics. But which ones and what size should I look into?

Answer
Hi Joey,

Your SX900.2 is a 2-channel amplifier that delivers its maximum output power in bridged mode, with a 4-ohm load.  It's rated for 850 watts RMS into 4 ohms when bridged.  If you connect two identical subs, the power output will be divided evenly between them; so at maximum power, each sub will get 425 watts.

This amp should work pretty well with a pair of L7's or L5's, provided that you get the 4-ohm version of the sub, and not the 2-ohm.  Because both of the L-series subs have dual voice coils, two subs can be combined for a 4-ohm load at the amplifier.  Personally, I'd look at the 12" L5, provided you have enough space in your vehicle.

Hope this helps!
