Car Stereos: Stuck tape adapter, vw jetta, electronic repair

I have a 1998 VW Jetta with a factory AM/FM/Tape/6-CD stereo.  I have been using a tape adapter for my ipod, and recently the stereo gave an error message and now will not recognize the tape adapter which is now stuck in the stereo.  How can I get the tape to eject?

Kevin, Sometimes tapes require manual assistance to eject.  I would suggest getting a butter knife and gently poking the adapter as you push the eject button.  If that doesn't work, then gently pressing down on the adapter, and releasing may do the trick.  If not, it may require more forceful prying upwards to "pop" the adapter out.  This could all potentially damage your radio, so caution should be used at your own discretion.  If you do not feel comfortable doing this, I would recommend taking it into an electronic repair shop to have the adapter removed.  Hope this helps, Scott
