Answer
Hi Jessie,

There are two power wires at the back of your CD player; one's red, and one's yellow.  The yellow wire needs to be connected to a voltage source that has power at all times, while the red wire needs to be connected to a power source that shuts off with the key.  If you used an adapter harness to connect the CD player to your factory radio plug, make sure the wires are matched up correctly; if you didn't use an adapter, then the Sony deck's yellow wire should be connected to an orange wire in the factory radio harness.  The red wire should be connected to a yellow factory wire.

Some vehicles have a featured called "retained accessory power".  This keeps the radio working after you turn the key off, until you open a door.  If your truck is equipped with this feature, but the radio won't shut off when the door is opened, it's possible that the driver's door switch is defective.  When you open the door, does your dome light turn on?  If not, the truck may not be able to detect when the door is opened, which means it doesn't shut off the head unit.

Hope this helps!
